Laura is a partner in the national Intellectual Property & Creative Industries group and heads the IP & Creative Industries team in the Manchester Office which is ranked in the Top Tier for Media and Entertainment by The Legal 500 Directory.
Immersed in the sector, she acts for a broad range of creative and digital businesses from multi-national technology companies, major fashion brands, communications agencies including, advertising and design agencies, digital agencies and PR companies, product design and manufacturing companies, film and TV production companies, music businesses, publishing, gaming and software companies through to Arts organisations, individual designers, writers, artists and musicians.
Laura has previously worked in the creative industries before entering the legal profession and therefore has an acknowledged and unique understanding of the sector and the issues faced by those working within it. Whilst a national practice, Laura divides her time between our Manchester office at Spinningfields, in the heart of the business and finance district, and also the dedicated creative industries office at The Sharp Project, Manchester’s multi-million pound creative digital media hub (see: www.thesharpproject.co.uk). Laura is known for providing an accessible legal service to those businesses which operate within the creative and digital sector.
She advises clients in relation to copyright, trade mark, design right, patent, know how & confidential information matters.
Acknowledged as a leading advisor to the creative and digital sector both regionally and nationally, Laura is a regular speaker on intellectual property law at industry events and at universities and other educational bodies.
