Ian Rankin in Conversation
Sunday 11 Nov | 2pm
This special in conversation sees Louder’s John Robb interview IAN RANKIN about Ian’s 10 favourite albums.
Ian’s life will be tracked through the albums that changed his life, charting seminal moments with insights and anecdotes to accompany his selection. Ian and John will take us on a biographical wander around each record, setting the atmosphere of the times through accompanying sounds and visuals as we pursue and engage with Ian’s life-story through music. Quite a treat in store for sure!
Ian Rankin writes the John Rebus novels, set in Edinburgh. After a short spell in Fife’s second-best punk band (1978-79) Ian studied English Literature, became a London-based hi-fi reviewer, moved to France and started a long career as a novelist. He may currently be the vocalist in the band Best Picture, if they’ve not kicked him out. His latest novel, In A House of Lies, was published in October. Unusually, it doesn’t take its title from a song or album. He made Sue Lawley listen to Mogwai when he was on Desert Island Discs.
