David Lewis Gedge was born in Leeds in 1960. His band, The Wedding Present, have released nine studio albums, including George Best, Bizarro and Seamonsters and, in 1992, equalled Elvis’s record for the most Top 40 hits in a year. His ‘solo’ project, Cinerama, inspired by a love of film music, have also released four critically acclaimed albums. John Peel was fond of David’s work, once saying that he’d written ‘some of the best love songs of the Rock ‘n’ Roll era’. Another of David’s great passions is writing his autobiographical comic book, Tales From The Wedding Present, along with artist Lee Thacker. He lives on the Sussex Coast with his wife and small dog, where he curates his own music festival, At The Edge Of The Sea, in Brighton, every August. He will continue to write, record and play live until he drops dead on stage (or on a sandy beach somewhere warm).
