Chris Gollon (b.1953, London – d. 2017), a friend of The Skids, enjoyed many solo museum exhibitions, museum acquisitions, including British Museum, the V&A and Huddersfield Art Gallery; and public commissions. He has exhibited with Bill Viola, Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst; and also with Yoko Ono, David Bowie and Gavin Turk in ‘ROOT’, a crossover exhibition of contemporary music and art created by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, at Chisenhale Gallery, London, 1998. The latter started his lifelong interest in boundary crossing, where one art form takes the other into new areas of thought and feeling. He enjoyed collaborating with musicians such as Grammy-nominated Yi Yao and singer/songwriter Eleanor McEvoy. For Chris Gollon song lyrics by Bob Dylan, Neil Young or others would often be the spring board into new imagery.
