From the author of Never Mind the Bollocks: Women Rewrite Rock, comes a new collection of interviews with eighteen women who work in the music industry – from Kate Tempest to Maggie Rogers, from Christine and the Queens to Ibeyi.

In 1995, Amy Raphael wrote Never Mind the Bollocks, interviewing twelve female musicians including Courtney Love, Kim Gordon, Björk and Kristin Hersh. It has become a seminal music book, still garnering press mentions and appearing on university set text lists. Over two decades on, the music industry has imploded and the internet exploded, yet there’s been little change in equality between men and women in the industry.

In A Seat at the Table, Raphael speaks candidly to women in the music industry about learning to speak out, #MeToo, social media, queer politics and the subtleness of everyday misogyny. Brave and forthright, this book features intimate conversations in the unfiltered words of the artists themselves – what a treat of an in conversation this will be – insightful, informative and in the true spirit of Louder Than Words Fest!
