Sunday 8th November, 2.15pm

Join LIZ KERSHAW for this very special in conversation event with Louder’s JOHN ROBB covering her career, contributions, interests and fandom over past decades – a true treat is in store for sure!

LIZ KERSHAW is the second longest serving female DJ – after Anne Nightingale – on BBC Radio.

In 1981 Liz was in a Leeds band and writing a weekly music column for the Yorkshire post when she was given her first show on Radio Aire.

She soon moved to BBC Radio Leeds and in 1987 was signed up by Radio 1 to present a weekly pop magazine programme going out ahead of the Top 40 on Sundays.

In 1988 she hosted Radio 1 ’s Evening Show – (“I was John Peel’s warm up act ! ”) And then went on to co-present Radio 1 Breakfast shows – with Bruno Brookes.

From 1994 Liz moved into news and current affairs at the newly launched BBC Radio 5 Live and then breakfast shows on BBC Northampton and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire – At the time the only woman to do that solo on ANY of the BBC’s 50 radio stations.

In 2002 she helped launch BBC 6 Music and in 2010 successfully campaigned to save it.

The Liz Kershaw show runs from 1pm – 3pm on 6 Music and features her favourite music old and new and welcomes the biggest names in her weekly feature A Legend In You Own Lunchtime.

“I still get excited about talking to someone whose records I’ve bought and whose gigs I’ve been to. Because at heart I’m still just a fan!”
